Books Books Books
I just started:
The God Delusion - Richard Dawkins
The Lost Message of Jesus - Steve Chalke
God meant it for good - RT Kendall
One Holy Fire - Nicki Cruz
I do this because if I am only reading one book, it is never at hand when I want to have a read and I spend hours searching for it. This way, I just carry on reading the first one of them that I find.
I must say though - the God Delusion looks pretty grand - hard back - I am not one for hard backs normally - why pay more? But that's the problem with Amazon, you never know what it's going to look like when you just click it into your basket. I'm sure there is a way of telling but I am a Philistine with these things.
Anyway, a chapter in and I'm not wrong. I guessed he would have continued his long walk away from conventional science and to date, he hasn't really set me on fire with facts - just bored me with his own personal diatribe. In the Selfish Gene, when he did this as an aside, it was mildly amusing, but basing the whole book on this kind of thing? I do hope it gets better.
God meant it for good is very uplifitng though I have to say although Steve Chalke is not quite hitting the spot for me - but we soldier on.

The bit in brackets (hardcover) is a big clue to whether it is hardback or not.
Evo1. You will need counselling from a good specialist Post-Dawkins Traumatic Stress Disorder clinician. You will find that your grip on reality will have been sent completely haywire by the time you get to page 50 (hardback!). You will be believing red is black and that the Pope's a catholic so strange is the "logic" Mr D employs in his arguments.
Don't forget, asking for help doesn't mean you're a weak person it just means you're a sensible person.
We will be praying for you.
Thanks MP, I shall remember that lol.
The last time I read a Dawkins book first time through, I did believe red was black.
One thing I can never quite lose site of though is that this guy is married to Romana - I mean, how cool is that?
The bit I have liked so far as the bit where he says, "I wouldn't deliberately offend anyone". It's right before the bit were he says that the only way to debate with religion is by ridiculing it and just after the bit where he points out the irony in the muslim guys plaque that read, "Behead those that say Islam is a violent religion"
The sad thing is that this guy is actually a first class biologist. He just seems to have promoted himself to his own level of incompetence.
Oh sadly my friend - the rest of the pages are much like the first 50......
i find the dalesman is a great read, i get it each month from tescos (and its not a hard back)
